They also had five players on the 2014 squad who played at a major college, including five-time All-America tackle Deionte Thompson.
The 2015 team finished with an impressive 12-0 record, including a 9-2 mark against FBS opponents.
The 2016 team is the first in program history to win the FCS national title and the first to finish in the top 10 of the league for a total of four consecutive seasons.
This season, Mississippi State has won 13 games, including two in a row, including last week’s 42-27 victory over South Carolina State.
Mississippi State will be looking to keep that streak alive against the South Carolina Gamecocks in the season finale on Saturday.
