Now, after the Buckeyes’ thrilling win over USC on Saturday night, they can finally have their wish.
According to The Columbus Dispatch, the Columbus Bowl is getting a new name in 2019.
The Columbus Bowl will be named for the iconic Ohio State football game played at Memorial Stadium in 2021.
The team is scheduled to open its first game against a ranked opponent, USC on Feb. 27, 2019.
Columbus Bowl, located at Memorial, is home to the Ohio State University football team.
The Buckeyes are scheduled to host the defending national champion UCLA Bruins on Jan. 31, 2021.
According the Dispatch, “Columbus’ name was first suggested in February, but the team had to come to the bargaining table.
After talks with the university’s Board of Trustees and the NCAA, the team agreed to change the name of the stadium from Memorial Stadium to the Columbus Football Complex.
The Columbus Bowl’s new name was announced Friday morning.”
