More than 100,000 fans have flooded Twitter to vent their frustration with the state of Alabama football, according to the Associated Press.
A survey of 1,000 Alabama football fans conducted this past weekend found that 56 percent believe that the team’s coaching staff should have fired head coach Nick Saban, the AP reported.
The poll also found that 70 percent of fans think the team has not done enough to improve its recruiting base.
The state’s largest university, Alabama, has been hit hard by the death of former Crimson Tide quarterback Nick Saban and allegations of sexual assault by former star receiver Jameis Winston.
The AP reported that fans are calling for the school to be stripped of the national title it won in 2018 and a $1 billion contract it signed with a Chinese company to build stadiums.
Fans are calling on Saban to resign, but the Alabama Athletic Commission said Tuesday it would not pursue any punishment.
The decision came amid reports of fans being arrested at stadiums during the NCAA’s investigation into the allegations against the coach.
